On the recommendation of the teacher, we finished watching the movie.The protagonist Xu Datong and his wife Geneen struggle for eight years in and make great achievements the United States.By accident,Xu Datong's son,Dennis was found that his back is full of scars.Social worker suspectes Dennis to abuse and prosecute xu datong.
In the court，Datong lost the lawsuit,Danny temporarily adopted by child welfare bureau.Then datong ’boss John knows the medical theory of guasha,and askes the judge to cancel the decision.Finally,the family reunion.
As is known to all，This is a film which is full of contradiction between Chinese and foreign cultural.However,in my opinion, it is high praised of parental love.
There is very impressive in the middle of the film.Datong lied that he took down the fault which his father did. Afterwards John asked Geneen why Datong did,Geneen replied， “Because he's Chinese.”As Chinese proverb goes，“Filial piety tops all virtues”.Datong think that it is harmful for his father
to make a green card，even more worse.This is a kind of typical Chinese traditional culture that the children who make great achievements want to make their parents live better.But，American don’t understand why Datong lied.It’s normal for American to appear in court.
In the meantime，It's touching in the end of the film.Datong wants to see his son in Christmas eve, he has to climb a pipe to the ninth floor which his son lives. Three close to enjoy together at last.In my opinion,it is a Surprise but reasonable ending.Datong dressed as Santa Claus and Crossed the obstacles to meet his family.It proves that Chinese parents love is great and selfless.
All places exist differences unless human being go out of existence.It is impossible to erase.only through love can we weaken it and make the world perfect.

This film was absolutely amazing. I have spent hours re-watching various scenes and noticing all the perfection with which they are acted and directed. It's not the violence or action sequences that make this movie so great (although they are well done...), but rather moments like where Mathilda knocks on Leon's door. It would be so easy to just film the door opening, but instead we see light illuminating Natalie Portman's face, symbolizing something angelic. And the moment has so much more meaning.
I know a lot of people who have seen this film because they are action fans. I'm not. But I'm glad I finally found it, because it's a wonderful film in so many other ways.
