My topic is Give environment morecare .
I’d like to talk about some global environmental problems, share some ofmy
stories and show you some data in my speech.
At the beginning, I’d like to ask you a question. Has your
hometown’senvironment been polluted, if it has, raise your hands please? (Thank you) Letme give you an impression of my hometown. That is a small village of
Yunnanprovince. There are many mountains, forests and rivers. If you go there, Ipromise you will be amazed by its beautiful landscape. Because you just cantouch the nature with your fingers and feelings. You can enjoy the blue sky,flying birds, waterfall, amazing sunset and many other sceneries. When I was ateenager, I often climbed these mountains and jumped into clear and clean riverfor a swim with my peers. However, after my graduation from high school, I cameto Beijing for college. I found something different. Because when I raised myhead, the sky’s color was not blue, but yellow. When I looked down, dirty andpoisonous rivers are full of unrecyclable rubbish and giving out unpleasantsmells. When I looked forward, so many people wore their mouth masks. Everyonehere complains weather and environment. It seems so inharmonious between man andnature. Why?
As we know, in the past few centuries, human have made countless remarkableachievements in science and technology to explore the mysterious world better.Conquering nature with powerful tools, people have achieved material prosperity.Meanwhile, environment has been badly damaged. So a series of severe problemscome along, such as species extinction, energy crisis, incurable diseases, thethree main pollutions etc. All of these factors bring our beautiful planetdisasters, humanity as well. Let me show you some statistics. According to thereport from World Wide Fund for Nature, the species of entire world havedeclined by 52 % since 1970. That means about 75 kinds of precious speciesdisappear forever from the Earth each day. In addition, scientists claimed thathuman now need one and a half Earth to meet the demand for natural resources.Another frightening data from the UN in 20xx, there are almost 8.4 millionpeople around the world who die of cancers caused by environmental issues everyyear. It is so horrible, isn’t it? Man has taken too much from nature, also paidsuch a heavy price for it. If we don’t try to change these situations, what willhappen one or two centuries later?
But, fortunately, the majority throughout the world are aware of thesignificance of environmental protection. Much many individuals,environmentalists and organizations have taken actions spontaneously. Companiesdonate part of their profits to support some green projects. Moreover,Government has carried out many policies to conserve endangered species, supportgreen industries and encourage people to live a green life. From a globalperspective, though it is a long journey to make the Earth recovered and to 2 and gentlemen.)

We live in the world every day. We eat food, drink water, wear clothes,watch TV, use computers and so on. We are producing waste every moment.
Generally speaking, there are four sorts of waste. They are material waste,organic waste, inorganic waste and poisonous harmful waste. Now, we aregoing to talk about each sort of waste one by one.
Material waste: it means the waste of substance or things from whichsomething else can be made. For example, people throw away the used metalproducts and buy a new one, so the old metal waste accumulates. At last, theybecome waste. For example, when people finish reading newspaper, the paper willbecome waste. When the glass is broken, it also becomes waste. Nobody wants touse a broken window or drink with a broken glass or wear a pair of brokenglasses. Once it is broken, it becomes waste. The rate of using plastics isincreasing day by day. People use plastic bags because they are convenient. Whenthey get home, they throw the plastics way, paying no attention to theenvironment. The more convenience plastics brings to us, the more plastic wasteis produced. This is called “white pollution” as most plastics are white. 5 Someof our products we use every day are made of rubber, just like the tyres and thebottom part of our shoes. It’s true that rubber plays an important role in ourlife. However, it also brings us some trouble when it has been used for a longtime and becomes old. The old tyres become waste because it can’t break down bynature. This is really a big problem.
