“五一”放假的时候老师给我们布置了一项作业：每人准备一份英语演讲稿，可以是自己的父母、老师、学校，也可以是小动物，或者英语小故事，我准备的是《My family》。“五一”开学以后，老师在班里进行选拔，最后我们班被选中的同学有魏奕博、刘向还有我，老师又对我们进行了多次辅导。老师要求我们首先要把自己的稿子读熟练并读出感情，不能像背书那样速度那么快，在熟练的同时再背诵。我回家后每天都抽时间练习，一段一段地背熟练，让妈妈帮我听，还自己用手机录音听效果。
参加英语演讲比赛的共有来自三至六年级的17名同学，他们看起来都信心十足，那些哥哥姐姐们在台上都表现得非常出色。连主持人也是一名英语和一名汉语主持人。我是三年级的一号，快轮到我时我有点小紧张了，害怕自己说不好，我深伸吸了一口气就上台了，结果我说得还比较流利，没有忘词 还 发挥出了自己最好的水平。最后有4名同学获得了一等奖，5名同学获得了二等奖，8名同学获得了三等奖。我获得了二等奖。
演讲比赛结束了，虽然我这次没有获得一等奖，但我从别人的.身上看到了别人的优点和缺点，也看到了自己的优点和缺点，我现在还是一名三年级的学生，还是第一次参加这样的比赛，以后还会有很多机会，这次活动对我来说也锻炼了我的胆量和能力。以后我要好好学习，多多地参加各种活动来锻炼自己。

四年级时我们班来了一位姓严的男英语老师，我至今对他还记忆犹新。
他身材魁梧，高大强壮，坐在椅子上稳如泰山，好似铁塔一般，乍一看像个教武术的。很有气场。他四方国字脸，大眼睛炯炯有神，戴一副眼镜，犀利的眼神似乎能穿透所有障碍发现你做的小动作，之后悄没声走过来，大喝一声把你吓瘫，接下来，等你的只有罚站。
他办事雷厉风行，最恨说谎的人，今天有一个同学上午说作业没带，下午又说没带。严老师当着全班同学的面让她抄了一遍，做了一遍。原因就是严老师看透她在说谎，即使她说的是真话，两次没带也是犯了他的忌讳呀！由此得出一个结论，别在他的面前耍小聪明，否则你就得“哪儿凉快，哪儿歇着”！
严老师在一些“大炮”面前就是一盆十足的凉水。有一次他拿了许多毛绒玩具来上课，所以气氛很活跃。有一位“嘴巴漏风”的“周大炮”在许多不该讲话的.时候插嘴，严老师瞪他三四秒都没反应，所以严老师被逼着使出绝招：狮吼功！“周雨晨，谁让你讲话的？给我站到后面去!”事后，语文老师说严老师像我们学的lion、tiger，一发火整个教室都在震。这也说明严老师不是好惹的！你看看他的姓就知道了。所以我奉告所有不认真学习的人——严老师就是你的末日！
但是他对表现好的学生又是另一个样子，上课经常带我们做游戏是一个十足的大男孩！
虽然严老师很凶，我们也很怕他，但也很喜欢他。
