　　Different people like different food. Some people like eating fish and meat, and some people like eating vegetables and fruit. But some people don't like vegetables and meat at all. They like hamburgers. The children all like snacks, sweets and cakes.

　　Different people like different lifestyles. Some people in the western countries like eating bread and drinking milk for breakfast, but some people in the eastern countries like eating rice and eggs for breakfast. In the western countries, many people like sports. They often play football and basketball. But in the eastern countries, many people don't like them. Everyone is different, so what do you like?

　　上个星期六的下午，我参加了“星星火炬英语风采大赛浙江选拔赛”。为了这次比赛，我做了精心的准备，背了《伊索寓言》中的《狐狸与猴子》这个故事，还有一段简短的自我介绍，赛前我自己觉得信心满满。

　　到了赛场以后我发现这里早就热闹非凡：有的正闲庭散步；有的正在排练自己的`作品；有的已经结束比赛，正在嬉闹玩耍。在足足等待了两个小时以后终于轮到我参加的赛次了。

　　参赛同学依次排队入场坐下后，看到前排的众多评委考官，我的心情一下子开始紧张起来，只感觉自己的心像小兔子一样“扑通扑通”狂跳不已，手掌心里也冒出汗来。看到有的选手神态自若，对答如流；有的选手吞吞吐吐，神情迷茫；我忐忑不安的紧张心情到了极点，真想逃离考场不参加比赛了。当耳边听到考官喊：“K-738选手请上场！”我硬着头皮走上了赛场。刚站在台上那一刻，我都不知所措。当开始自我介绍以后，我紧张的情绪才开始慢慢放松下来，故事也一气呵成地讲完了，考官的问答也顺利过关，但在第一次遇到看图说话的题目还是有些困难。回到自己的座位，还感觉在梦境一般。

　　回到家里，我看了妈妈给我录的录像，这才知道由于自己第一次参加这样的大赛，姿态僵硬，两只手居然像鸟儿的翅膀一样一直张着，这种姿态一直保持到比赛结束，可以看出我的紧张程度。

　　通过这次难忘的比赛经历，我知道许多事并没有想像中的那么简单，需要我不断地学习和锻炼。不管怎样，我克服了紧张，勇敢地站在台上展示了自己的“风采”，没有做逃兵。

　　每当我们上英语课的时候，老师就会教授我们丰富的知识。我越来越喜欢英语了，因为在英语学习中我找到了许多乐趣。首先是记单词的'乐趣。以前我最痛恨记单词，那么多单词像一锅粥似的搅在一块儿，根本分不清谁是谁。有时是和汉语拼音混淆在一起；有时是单词之间互相混淆，把这个单词记成另一个单词；更糟糕的是，我根本不知道自己在拼什么。可是，自从我学习了音标后，我就发现了许多记单词的窍门，比如，许多发音是由固定单词拼写而成的。比如ph发[f]的音，C常发[k]的音。有了学习方法，我觉得英语学习轻松又有趣。它不仅使我多学了一门语言，更为我开启了一扇通往异域文化的大门。

　　现在，我的阅读面扩大许多，不仅看中文故事，还试着读一些英语小短文，我尤其爱看英语幽默，笑话，常常乐得开怀大笑。第一，当然是故事有趣，惹人发笑；第二是因为读懂了，高兴地忍不住想笑。渐渐地，我的阅读理解能力大大提高了。以前，看到文章中生词多，就觉得头晕眼花，有畏难情绪；可现在呢，我不再拒绝新单词了，因为我会根据上下文的意思，猜个八九不离十，即使猜错了，也不影响对整个故事的理解。哈哈，会双语的感觉真好！上课时我们用心地配合老师读单词、学习句子、掌握知识点……老师上课时，当我们回答对了一个又一个的问题，老师嘴里就会不停地说着“good”（棒）、“OK”（好）之类表扬的话，大家完全沉浸在英语的海洋中，欢声笑语久久回荡着。

　　英语课是我最喜欢的课程，它不仅给我带来了不一样的学习乐趣，而且丰富了我的生活。我真希望和同学们一起分享学习英语的方法和乐趣，共同取得更大进步！
