学英语作文 篇1

  part 1

A Major Advantage/Disadvantage of the Information Age

As everyone knows, the information age has brought us countless benefits, but when it comes to its major advantage, people may hold different views. As for me, the major advantage of the Information Age is that it makes it easy for individuals to have instant access to all kinds of information. In the past, for instance, if a student was meant to compose a thesis, he was supposed to bury himself in piles of books in the library, and probably after several days’ or even several months’ searching, he still could not find the materials he wanted. But now it is a totally different story. The advanced techniques of the information age have spared us all those troubles. What we need to do is just sit in front of the computer and search for our target information on the Internet rather than struggle painfully in numerous books. More excitingly, we don’t have to waste several days or even months waiting. Usually the information we need will be transferred to us in seconds. The information age can not only bring convenience to students in searching of materials, but also help people in all walks of life, save their energy and enhance their efficiency. Now since we’re in an economy based around the manipulation of information, I have every reason to believe that this advantage of the information age will play an even greater role in the future.

It used to be that people who played sports were gentlemen but today we find that sportsmanship is becoming rarer. Some players cheat, take drugs, win at all costs and in football professional fouls are increasing. Write about the importance of sportsmanship.

  专四范文:

Good Sportsmanship Is of Vital Importance

Sportsmanship is a great tradition in sports and competitions that means playing clean and handling both victory and defeat with grace, style, and dignity. Today, quite a few athletes lack sportsmanship. I personally hold that good sportsmanship is of vital importance for both the athletes themselves and their offspring.

Firstly, practicing good sportsmanship wins respect. When you win, the trick is to be a gracious and generous winner. Good sportsmanship means acknowledging victories without humiliating opponents, being quietly proud of success, and letting victories speak for themselves. Even if you win by a landslide, good sportsmanship means still finding ways to compliment your opponents. By demonstrating your respect to your opponents, you win respect from them too. Secondly, good sportsmanship teaches children how they should behave. Kids learn the basics of sportsmanship from the adults in their lives, especially their parents and their coaches. Kids who see adults behavin in a sportsmanlike way gradually come to understand that the real winners in sports are those who know how to persevere and to behave with dignity-whether they win or lose a game. A child who practices good sportsmanship is likely to carry the respect and appreciation of other people into every other aspect of life.

In conclusion, sportsmanship is a manifestation of our own ethics in real life. For the sake of sportsmen themselves and the generation to come, good sportsmanship should be highly advocated. (235 words)

  专四作文精彩句子:

3.Sportsmanship,like ethics, reflects both the character and the actions of a coach. The image a coach projects on the field is usually a product of his or her character.

  体育精神就像道德规范一样,反映教练的性格和行为。教练在赛场上呈现出来的形象通常反映他的性格。

学英语作文 篇2

my mother is a simple woman who comes from the countryside with little education. but in my eyes, she is the greatest mother in the world. her perseverance gives me courage in all my life. whenever i have trouble doing something and think about giving up, the scene that happened three years ago to mother just come into my mind.

having asked for a leave from the teacher, i left the boring class and went to home with my favorite novel tucked under my arm. father was at work, brother was at school, mother wouldn‘t be back from her small store until evening. i felt very happy thinking that i would have the entire house to myself. i bounded up steps, burst into the room but was shocked by whatever i saw. mother was sitting in the sofa, sobbing with her shoulder twitching. i had never seen mother crying before. i went close to her, asking what had happened. she wiped her tears, forced a smile, and told me calmly that her small store was going to break. i didnt know how to comfort her at the moment, but i did know what the small store meant to her.

mother ran the small store in order for my brother and me to have a better education. as father worked with low salary which could merely afford the whole family‘s life necessities, mother had to try hard to earn money for our education. she was frantic to make money before she managed the store herself. she once worked day and night for months on end in a small restaurant. it was a very difficult period of time for her. but she never complained before us. eventually, she had her own business by running the small store. and she really managed it well all the time with great efforts. i never expected that the store would break. this will undoubtedly take everything away from my mother. i couldn‘t help worrying about her. mother seemed to read the worry on my face. she patted me on my shoulder, speaking with a faint smile: well, it may not be that serious. i‘ll try to make it better whatever. we‘ll be fine, my dear boy. i was so moved by mother‘s words. it turned out that mother really rebuilt her business soon and the store ran well. i could imagine how much mother had paid for her small store business. it was really too much for a woman. but she never gave up. she just went ahead with her unusual perseverance.

学英语作文 篇3

The Most Important Day in My Life

Have you ever been at sea in a dense fog when it seemed as if a tangible white darkness shut you in, and the great ship, tense and anxious, groped her way toward the shore? I was like that ship before my education began, only I had no way of knowing how near the harbor was.

The most important day I remember in all my life is the one on which my teacher, Anne Mansfield Sullivan, came to me. I am filled with wonder when I consider the immeasurable contrast between the two lives which it connects. It was the third of March, 1887, three months before I was seven years old.

On the afternoon of that exciting day, I guessed vaguely from my mother’s signs and from the hurrying to and fro in the house that something unusual was about to happen, so I went to the door and waited on the steps.

I felt approaching footsteps. I thought it was my mother and stretched out my hand. Someone took it, and then I was caught up and held close in the arms of the person who had come to reveal all things to me, and, more important than that, to love me.

The morning after my teacher came she led me into her room and gave me a doll. When I had played with it a little while, Miss Sullivan slowly spelled into my hand the word “d-o-l-l”. I was at once interested in this finger play and tried to imitate it. When I finally succeeded in making the letters correctly I was filled with childish pleasure and pride. Running downstairs to my mother I held up my hand and made the letters for doll. I did not know that I was spelling a word or even that words existed; I simply made my fingers go in monkey-like imitation. In the days that followed I learned to spell in this uncomprehending way many words, among them, “pin”, “hat”, “cup”, and a few verbs like “sit”, “stand” and “walk”, but my teacher had been with me several weeks before I understood that everything has a name.

One day while I was playing with my new doll, Miss Sullivan gave me my old doll, too. She then spelled “d-o-l-l” and tried to make me understand that “d-o-l-l” applied to both. Earlier in the day, we had a struggle over the two words “m-u-g” is “mug” and “w-a-t-e-r” is “water” , but I persisted in mixing up the two. I became impatient and, seizing the new doll, I dashed it on the floor, breaking it into pieces. I was not sorry after my fit of temper. In the dark, still world, I had no strong sentiment for anything.

My teacher brought me my hat, and I knew we were going out into the warm sunshine. We walked down the path to the well-house. Someone was drawing water, and my teacher placed my hand under the spout. As the cool stream gushed over one hand, she spelled into the other word water, first slowly, then rapidly. I stood still; my whole attention was fixed upon the movements of her finger. Suddenly I seemed to remember something I had forgotten — a thrill of returning thought – and the mystery of language was revealed to me. I knew then that the “w-a-t-e-r” meant that wonderful cool something that was flowing over my hand. That living word awakened my soul and set it free.

I left the well-house eager to learn. Everything had a name and each name gave birth to a new thought. As we returned to the house, every object which I touched seemed to be full of life. That was because I saw everything with a strange, new sight that had come to me. On entering the door I remembered the doll I had broken. I felt my way to the fragments and tried in vain to put them together. Then my eyes were filled with tears, for I realized what I had done, and for the first time I felt sorry.

I learned a lot of new words that day. It would have been difficult to find a happier child than me when I lay in my small bed that night and thought of the joys that day had brought to me, and for the first time I longed for a new day to come.
