　　With the fast are pace of modern life, more and more people are living under great pressure.

　　Some people are afraid of pressure. They think that the stresses and strains of work deprive them of joy and happiness. In their view, stress does harm to them both physically and mentally. That is why they prefer something less competitive and strenuous to something more demanding and challenging.Others argue that stress isn‘t as bad as it often supposed to be. Unless it is overwhelming, a certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and stimulation. With out stress, you may slack off and idle away your time. It gives purpose and meaning to an otherwise meaningless, dull life. People under stress tend to bring their potential into full play and to realize their goals.

　　In my opinion, we shouldn‘t escape from stress but to face it as it is. What we can do is to adapt to the stress and to profit from it rather than to avoid it.

　　爸爸的爱好很广泛，尤其热爱英语。有一次，我正在房间里大声朗读英语，不知什么时候爸爸突然冒了出来，说：“英语真的很好听啊，真不愧是******用语言，我也来学一学，要不然就落伍了。”于是，爸爸就让我当他的'“英语老师”，虚心地问我应该怎么读。刚一开始，爸爸读得很难听，就像外星人说话似地，可能连外星人都听不懂吧。可爸爸没有被困难吓倒，天天早晨早起二十分钟，一边听磁带，一边大声朗读。过了一段时间，在我和爸爸的艰苦努力下，爸爸的英语终于有了很大的进步。

　　老爸学习英语有一个最大的困难，就是容易遗忘。为了记住更多的英语单词，老爸苦思冥想，终于想到了一个好办法，他几乎把家里所有的东西上都贴满了纸条，纸条上写着相应的英语单词。这样，老爸在拿什么东西的时候，就会把这个单词念出来。长时间后，老爸果然记住了很多单词。

　　要说我敬佩的一个人，那就是我的妈妈，她长得不高也不矮，瘦瘦的，好象一阵风就会把妈妈吹倒（开个玩笑）。接下来我就给你讲讲妈妈学英语的事。

　　那时我才上三年级，学校里开了英语课，每次老师说要我们回家读课文给家长听，可是好多地方妈妈不懂，我读错了她也不知道，而且我不会读的单词和课文也没有人帮我辅导，为这妈妈和我都很苦恼。几天以后妈妈做了个想象不到的决定：妈妈要学—英—语。我和爸爸都不敢相信自己的耳朵。

　　妈妈说到果然做到，她先去买了许多英语教材和磁带，然后又去报了英语班。可是大多数英语班都是教小孩子的，好不容易才找到一个教成人英语的，妈妈很高兴。

　　妈妈一开始学英语很困难，爸爸劝她说：“你现在都三十多了，记忆又不好，没有年轻时的脑子好用了，反正也学不好，不如别学了。”我也劝妈妈不要那么辛苦，可妈妈就是不听，她说：“我不能半途而废，有始无终，我一定要坚持，要给璐璐做个好榜样，不是吗？”然后妈妈有接着背单词、读课文。因为妈妈基础不扎实，所以要从三年级的教材开始学。晚上我们叫妈妈睡觉了，她说：“你们先睡我过一会就睡”。我们就没管她。12点多了我起来喝水，看见妈妈还在看书就劝她早就休息，她点点头说：“再学一会”。

　　到了第二天，我们看见妈妈的眼睛红红的'肿肿的，也不知道昨天晚上几点才睡，爸爸生气的说：“你爱惜点自己的身体好不好？多大的人了，眼睛还要不要？”我也对妈妈说：“你这样是会影响上班的。”妈妈只是笑笑，照样我行我素，爸爸一生气就把妈妈报的那个英语班给退了。妈妈知道后很伤心，不理爸爸了好几天。我们以为妈妈伤心过后就不学了，但我们错了，妈妈照样坚持着，自己边学边找老师，就这样妈妈坚持了两年多，终于学会了英语，现在我的英语也有人帮我辅导了，我们能在家里进行简单的英语对话，我的英语成绩也慢慢的上升，我真为我的妈妈骄傲。

　　要是我们在学习上、做事上也能向妈妈这样坚持不懈，我相信，再难的事也能完成。
