　　I am very sorry to inform you that I did not manage to complete the book report you assigned last week， due to a sudden illness falling upon me a few days ago。 For the past few days I have been in hospital with a continuous fever， which has thus prevented me from any academic activity。 I hereby submit the doctor's note。

　　I would be very much obliged if you could grant me another week for the task， as my health is turning better。

　　今天下午，我去会议室参加了英语讲故事比赛。一进会议室，最前面一排有几位老师，后面依次是从三年级到五年级的参赛选手。我发现，我还挺喜欢比赛的。因为比赛前的那种心情很紧张，但紧张中又夹带着几分兴奋。

　　先是五年级比赛，之后依次往下。轮到我了。站到台上的时候，我的双腿有些发抖，翻开书读时，第一句读错了，我赶紧改进。为了不让自己再读错，我让自己的心冷静下来。双腿也不再抖得那么厉害了。我讲的故事是《爱唱歌的鸟，内容是有一只爱唱歌的鸟，国王把它关进笼子里，给它美味的`食物，可它就是不唱。最后国王把它放走了，她又像以前那样唱歌了。现在所有人都很高兴。讲完了，我走下台，回到自己的座位上。有一个女孩跟我的故事一样，她很有感情把它背诵了出来，还做着动作。我是读的，有一点感情，没有做动作。我心想，下次讲故事要背下来，要有感情和动作。

　　Today we visited a farm. Early in the morning, we met at the school gate and went there together The farm workers gave us a warm welcome. Then the head of the farm showed us around.

　　How glad we were to see the crops and vegetables growing well. At noon we had a picnic lunch in the sunshine. After a ten minutes' break, we had great fun singing and dancing, telling jokes(笑话) or stories. Two of us even played a game of chess. The time passed quickly. Before we knew it,we had to say goodbye to the workers.
