I have a good friend, her name is Lucy, we became friends since I was five years old, she is my neighbor, we play together all the time. Yesterday, Lucy got herthirteenyear-old birthday, she hold a party in her house, as her good friend, of course I would not miss her party. I bought her a watch as the gift, in the party, we sang and danced, she has many friends, so we played the game, we felt so happy. At last, we sang the birthday song to her and took out the big cake, Lucy made her wish, we ate the cake together. We had great fun at Lucy’s party, I wish her be happy every day.

She can do all the housework. She can sweep the floor, cook the meals, wash the clothes and put away the clothes. So she is helpful. She always helps her mother on weekends. She is a good girl. On the weekends, she often plays with me, too.
Her favourite food is ice-cream. And watermelons is her favourite fruit. She has many hobbies. She likes eating, playing sports and reading books. She likes spring very much. She said it’s so beautiful. And the weather is fine and warm. She likes fall too. Because she can eat a lot of fruits. But I like summer best. It’s hot. We can swim in the swimming pool. We can have a lot of fun. Every morning and afternoon, we go to school on foot together. Do you know who is she? This very good girl is my classmate——Chen Peier.

As I am now a senior high school student, I have a great many friends, but there is one whom I prize over all the rest. I first made his acquaintance when I began to go to school. He has been my constant companion ever since.
Though he is serious in appearance, he never fails to be interesting. Often he is clever, sometimes even merry and gay. He is the most knowledgeable friend a person could have. He knows virtually every language of the world, all the events of history, and the words of all the great poets and philosophers. A kindly benefactor, he is admired and enjoyed by everyonewho makes his acquaintance.
To me, he has been a great teacher as well as a friend. He first taught methe secrets of my own language and then those of others. With these keys he showed us how to unlock all the arts and sciences of man.
My friend is endlessly patient. Dull though I may be, I can return to him again and again, and he is always ready to teach me. When I am bored,he entertains me. When I am dispirited, he lifts me up. When I am lonely, he keeps me company. He is a friend not only to me but to millions around the world. Shall I tell you his name? His name is “reading”。
