　　下周我要参加迪斯尼的英语演讲比赛，老师把我安排在中级组，比赛的'主题是“欢乐的暑假”，要求是自己制作PPT和自己写演讲稿。

　　我和妈妈把我暑假里的照片选择了几张做成PPT，爸爸又帮我做成动画的效果，老师又帮我加上了背景。漂亮极了。

　　演讲稿是先自我介绍，然后是告诉大家我暑假里快乐的生活。今天我们进行了第一次彩排，老师说我很有感情带有微笑并且声音很响亮，我有信心得奖。等着我的好消息吧，哈哈！

　　Since I came to middle school, I spent some time to get used to the new environment. Now I have made many friends here and I get along well with my classmates. The communication between students develops so fast must be owed to the basketball match. I joined the team and fought for my class. I practised with my partners and during the progress, we got to know each other well and soon we became the real team. The other classmates cheered for us when we in the match. It was such a good atmosphere. The whole class became so closed at this moment. The group activity can unite people together.

　　The game was scheduled to start at start at eight o’clock on Friday night. Long before that, people began to arrive at the gymnasium. By seven-thirty the seats were almost filled.

　　The school band was there; they wore yellow and black uniforms. They started to play at about a quarter to eight. Everybody stood up, and the people sang. The game was about to start.

　　Two teams ran out to the floor. The referee blew his whistle, and the game started. A basketball game is divided into two halves, and each half is divided into two quarters. There is a rest period between the halves.

　　During the first five minutes of the second half, the score was tied. From then on, the game was very exciting. First one team made a basket, then the other.

　　The people cheered, and everybody was wondering which team was going to win. The ball hit the rim of the basket and seemed to hang there for a moment, and then it fell through the basket. The whistle blew and the game was over. Home team won, 70 to 68.

　　There was a basketball game in our school this afternoon. It was between Class 3 and Class 6 of Grade 5. They are the best teams in our school. When the game started, both of them played actively. I could only see the ball passed quickly from one to another.

　　It was really a wonderful game. At last Class 6 won the first prize and Class 3 congratulated them warmly. They really embodied the sports spirit of "friendship first, competition second".

　　四、宣布比赛环节和评分细则

　　Now I would like to introduce the rules for the contest

　　Today's competition has two phases: The first phase is a 5 minutes’ speech show, which composes 60% of the score. In this part, the contestants are supposed to make a 3 minutes’ impromptu speech according to the topics , and then they will answer the questions raised by our judges, and the time limit is 2 minutes.

　　And the second phase is the role play of each contestant, which takes 40% of the final score. Every one of them will be given 5 minutes to display their role they selected beforehand.

　　After the performance by the contestants, our judges will give fair judgment according to the comprehensive performance of each contestant. We will have one champion, two second prizes winners, three third prize and the rest contestants will get the Excellence Award. I wish all of them achieve a lot, and have good luck.

　　Some say growing up in rich family promotes children's personality and character. Some think otherwise. What's your opinion? Why?

　　Well, it's quite a question argued by people all the time. I think a person's personality has little relation to his family economic level. It's commonly said that a child in rich family will has more chances and better choice for his study. However, if the kid himself isn't aware of this, that is all in vain. It's not unusual that many children from rich family are quite rude and conceited although they are always receive the best education. Then, how about the poor family's children? There is another saying that adversity cultivates heroes. To be honest, I disagree with it too. Poor children should learn harder and catch every chance to strengthen themselves.

　　However, the reality is often not like that. Subjectively speaking, poor children are easy to feel inferior and thus can't study well. Even if they study well, they hardly do well in practicing ability. Objectively speaking, poor children can hardly receive good and plentiful education because of the economic limit. That will cause deficiency in some literal or artistic talent such as music or dance. Therefore, I think children's personality have little relation to their family situation.
