　　the game was scheduled to start at start at eight o’clock on friday night. long before that, people began to arrive at the gymnasium.

　　by seven-thirty the seats were almost filled. the school band was there; they wore yellow and black uniforms. they started to play at about a quarter to eight. everybody stood up, and the people sang. the game was about to start. two teams ran out to the floor. the referee blew his whistle, and the game started. a basketball game is divided into two halves, and each half is divided into two quarters. there is a rest period between the halves. during the first five minutes of the second half, the score was tied. from then on, the game was very exciting. first one team made a basket, then the other. the people cheered, and everybody was wondering which team was going to win.

　　the ball hit the rim of the basket and seemed to hang there for a moment, and then it fell through the basket. the whistle blew and the game was over. home team won, 70 to 68.

　　去年暑假，我、三个同学和家长一行去青岛，参加 “外研通杯新概念英语大赛。”

　　晚上，所有的选手进行了抽签，我们被分在了a组，田潇乐18号，我24号，张婉琳28号，孟心语36号。回到宾馆，我们几个就感到有点紧张的气氛了，有的同学就拿出相关的书来背起来，有的装着若无其事的样子，但从她的行动上还是能看出一点点异样来。

　　第二天早上七点30分，正式开始比赛，一走进200多平方米的比赛大厅，妈呀，早已人山人海，有点水泄不通。

　　比赛开始了，一号选手是一个小男孩，他在自我介绍时有点慌张，背课文时，支支吾吾很不流利，当评委提问时，竟然连小孩都会的问题都答不出来了，在表演完后差不多是哭着下台的。我们更加感到紧张，赶紧准备起来，家长见状，只好给我们打气：“孩子，不要害怕，我们能来到这里，就是最棒的，重在参与。”这种声音一直回荡在我们的耳边……

　　时间过的好快，不一会儿，该田潇乐上场了！我紧张的眼珠快要掉出来了，还好，她在台上显得镇定自若，背完课文后，回答问题和才艺展示后，大大方方的走下台。我高兴地跑过去，并说道：“田潇乐！你太棒了！”她又欣喜地说，谢啦，但快到你了，快准备吧。我高亢的心情又一下子跌落到谷底。‘19号、20号、21号、22号、23号、24号！’该我了！我的天！这咋就这么快呢，我的`手呦，别再冰冷；我的腿呦，别再颤抖！我还是磕磕拌拌的上台了。

　　oh,my gad!当时我面对着这么多的眼睛，心跳都快要停住了！先是一番自我介绍，本来想讲得眉飞色舞，谁知，脑子一片空白，下文呢？忘了！只好来了个“自我拯救”——自己现编吧，结果效果还是不好，说了好几遍“i’m sorry.”哼，气死我了！接下来是现场抽签背课文，“开始。”“stop！”哈哈，天助我也，我抽到了我最拿手的课文，“now i will bigan!……”课文顺利背完了，该评委问了，因本人紧张过度，也像第一位那样：没能回答问题，我心里又没有数了，心情到‘大慌特慌’的程度了。还好，接下来，是我比较拿手的才艺展示，一番热舞后，得到了一片掌声，也算是给了我一点点的心理安慰吧。

　　所有的比赛结束了，公布成绩时，我们没有进全国赛，真的感到好遗憾。我想了好久，终于明白了一个道理：机会对于每个人都是均等的，有的人抓住了，并做好充分的准备，迎接他们的就是鲜花与掌声，而我，却没有做到，结局就是这样的了！

　　Modern clothes are definitely more practical as against traditional clothes.Almost all people now wear modern clothes.Nowadays even more and more people wear casual clothes.Jeans are everywhere except at formal parties.T-shirts are common,too.They look comfortable and fashionable.However,there are also a lot of people who take the trouble to dress well in formal clothes like shirts,trousers and suits.I find them smart,too.

　　But then,it is important to hold on to our topic.In my opinion,each type of dress has its place.Modern clothes are ideal for most situations,while casual clothes are worn more freely.As to traditional clothes,they must be worn for special occasions

　　我疾步来到那里，大厅里早已人山人海，热闹非凡。我的心里既激动又紧张，因为今天我和杨丝雨第一次代表全班上台参加比赛。

　　主持人宣布比赛开始了。原本热闹非凡的大厅立刻安静了下来。大家都屏住呼吸，等待着选手们精彩、生动的表演。选手们有的信心十足，昂首挺胸地走上台；有的摩拳擦掌准备上台展示自己的绝技：有的`一刻不停地默默背诵参赛内容……

　　“请13号选手做好准备！”我耳边响起主持人的声音，不禁打了个寒颤。“什么，这么快就到我们了，不会吧？”我和杨丝雨硬着头皮走上台，望着台下无数双眼睛，面对我班同学鼓励的微笑，我不停地安慰自己：同学们都看着你，不能给班级丢脸啊！”可是。我的脑子太不争气了，连第一句台词都抛到九霄云外了。怎么办？怎么办？正当我心急如焚时，耳边响起了杨丝雨的声音，原来，第一句是我和杨丝雨一起说的，我大大地松了口气。紧接着，我们流利地讲着准备好的英语故事，一切顺利。当我们的表演结束时，大厅里热烈的掌声使我感到一丝放松。下台后，我才发现，我的腿竟然还在不停地微微颤抖。

　　很快，英语演讲比赛结束了，但同学们流利的口语、精彩的表演以及我紧张而害怕的镜头，依然在脑海中久久回荡……

　　可是跟比赛仅一天时间,马流畅很难把稿子读的既流利又有感情,还加上动作,老师不得不把马流畅去掉。

　　现在只剩我和申紫涵,好害怕呀!

　　终于到了比赛的一天,我们的`“战地”是市二中。到了那里,我更加紧张了,可当我看到三位评委和蔼可亲的微笑时,却放松了很多。

　　“二号选手,麻雨露”“啊,轮到我了”我心里更慌了 ,这时,坐在我一旁的英语老师鼓励我,说:“别怕,相信自己,你最棒!”

　　我鼓起勇气,走上台开始演讲。因为我是二号选手,后面还有很多同学,所以我们等了很长时间才结束,出来时我的腿都发软了,可老师却说,这次比赛不是为了拿奖,而是为了锻炼我们的勇气,当然,拿奖最好,但那些都是次要的!

　　谁也没有想到,我竟然晋级了,老师又给我一篇稿子,我现在正在认认真真的背稿子。我相信通过我的努力我还会再晋级的!
