　　英语作为国际通用语，其重要地位越来越得到大家的共识。因为，“我们不能忽视一个巨人的存在”（英国某语言专家语）。所以，我们要下定决心，排除万难，掌握英语。而构建你英语大厦的基础，就是词汇。

　　1．词汇学习的重要性。英语能力培养程序：词汇-语法-听-说-读-写。英语高分训练程序：词汇-读-写。这两套程序是语言学和认知学研究的成果，次序千万不能颠倒。词汇是基础，是素材，是细胞，不要指望词汇基本功不扎实的人能够考出高分；阅读是中国人学习外语的最佳途径，也是目前各类外语考试的最主要题型；写作是掌握外语，检验自己水平的最主要方式。有兴趣的人可以参考这方面的专著。

　　3 . 如何运用词典扩大词汇量。关于辞典。词汇的学习离不开词典，如何选用她至关重要。我做一个Prediction ，70%的人用的是牛津和朗文。但是你如果看一下英语专业的考试大纲的话，你会发现，COLLINS COBUILD 和 WEBSTER’S COLLEGE DICTIONARY 才是最好的工具书。我用的就是后者。为什么要推荐这俩本呢？1、释义详细，简练；2、提高词汇在上下文的理解能力；3、后者还提供词源，方便理解与记忆。

　　4. 词汇量大对阅读的帮助。阅读有三个层次：字面意义，行间意义，言外之意。试题考察的比例一般为2：2：1。字面意义不必多说，对于行间意义和言外之意的理解，需要高超的技巧，一般的阅读书上都有，在此我提一下篇章结构的作用。篇章结构对于解答行间意义和言外之意的提问特别有效。

We often have English classes in the language lab. On the seventh floor there is a library, a reading room. A computer room for the teachers is also on the seventh floor.

He suggested that I should do more reading and keep a diary everyday. In the evening, after supper, my mother told me that reading Twenty-Four century would do me much good for improving writing.
