　　I swim three times a week. Most often I swim in my school. I feel very happy when I swim in school with my friends. I often go to swim with my good friend Lily. She likes swimming,too. 　　在我的记忆中，有过许多的比赛。例如：奥数比赛、语文比赛、作文比赛。可最让我难忘的还是那次英语演讲比赛。

　　记得四年级暑假的一天，我漫步在小区里。忽然，我发现小区的报告亭上有一则广告，上面说我们小区里就要举行一场英语演讲比赛，有外国人过来听。地址：小区物业大厅内。看完之后，我犹豫不决：我到底去不去，如果去我英文不好，如果不去机会难得。

　　这时，我想起了妈妈的一句话：“不是所有的种子都必须要长成参天大树，但如果不努力，就不能破土而出，更不会长成参天大树。”于是，我径直走向了物业的大门，报了名。我回到家以后和妈妈说明了情况，妈妈二话不说，帮我到图文店里打印了资料，我拿起了资料，如饥似渴地读了起来，因为比赛的时候是要脱稿的，所以我一有时间就拿出来练习。

　　比赛那天，我面带微笑的对着一些外国人。我异常紧张，但又想：养兵千日用兵一时。我之前的'努力不就是为了这一刻吗？我绝对不能在这个关节点上掉链子。于是，我发挥超常。但是我的对手都是大人，所以我的成绩一落千丈。

　　虽然这次我没有得到名次，但是它让我明白了一个道理：只有努力才是通向成功的捷径。

　　中午，我一回到家，就飞快地拿出了英语练习本认认真真地写了几遍，接着选了一张写的最好的下午到校后交给了英语老师，英语老师细致地指导了我，比如竖要写直，行笔手不要抖等，我牢牢记在了心里，接下来的两天我按照英语老师的指导一遍又一遍地规范地练习，我进步得很快，我在心里暗暗地想：有付出一定会有收获！只要努力这次比赛我一定能得一等奖。

　　转眼间到了英语书法比赛的日子，我快速向比赛地点跑去，到了地方，老师一发下试题，我就不由紧张起来，要书写的内容很多，(有十个单词，和很长一段话）可又有什么办法呢？我只能耐下性子来好好写，刚刚写了一个开头，我就开始手心出汗，又往下写了还不到一半，我已经全身大汗淋漓，我急得像热锅上的蚂蚁团团转，心想：这样紧张下去，比赛肯定无法取得一个好成绩，不行，我得调整情绪，不能太紧张了。于是我连着深呼吸了几下，尽量把字写得不那么歪歪扭扭，眼看快收卷了，我硬着头皮把考题写完交了上去。交上去后，我想：这次可算是写砸锅了，想拿一等奖是不可能了！不一会儿老师们便改完了试卷，评出了一、二等奖，开始发奖状了，老师先念了二等奖的`人，但没有我的名字，一种恐惧迅速蔓延了我的全身，我是不是因为写得太烂而没有获奖？我总不能得一等奖吧？我越想越害怕，这时老师念到了获一等奖的同学，竟然念到了我！我万万没想到我竟然是一等奖！我太开心了。

I think the difference between success and failure is perseverance. If we have perseverance, even if we are not clever, we will make a great difference, but if we not, we are doomed to lose. As we all know, Edison is a great inventor in the world. However, before he invented the bulb, he kept trying for tens of thousands of times to find a suitable wire.
