　　My Invention

　　I invent a piece of high-technology goods in the future. It looks like a pencil, is both useful and colorful. On the pencil, there are 3 buttons, namely food, toys, clothes. When you feel hungry, but when you can't find something to eat, don't worry, just use my invention, it will fill your stomach ['st?m?k]. You only have to push the button for food, on a piece of paper and then draw out the food you want to eat, and after about a minute, your food will come true, and it was delicious.

　　A common chemical process may explain how hot water can freeze more quickly than cold, a report on the web site of New Scientist said on Thursday.

　　A scientist of the University of Washington at St Louis found that what is behind the so-called "Mpemba effect is that the phenomenon is all to do with solutes," the report said.

　　The Mpemba effect came to be known after a Tanzanian school student named Erasto Mpemba noticed that the sugared milk he used to make ice cream froze more quickly if it started out hot.

　　Jonathan Katz, of the University of Washington, who worked out the details of the Mpemba effect, said the solutes are calcium and magnesium bicarbonate, which make most drinking water "hard" and when the water is heated, these elements precipitate to form the solid scale that "furs" up the inside of a kettle.

　　Katz said water that has never been heated still contains these solutes and as it freezes, ice crystals form, and the concentration of solutes in the remaining water becomes ever higher - up to 50 times as high as normal, thus lowering the freezing point of the water.

　　According to Katz, there is a second, related effect that hampers the freezing of water that has never been heated. The lowering of the freezing point reduces the temperature difference between the liquid and its freezing surroundings. "Since the rate at which heat is lost from the water depends on this temperature difference, water that has not been heated has greater difficulty losing heat," Katz was quoted as saying.

　　Katz said the two effects combined could perfectly explain why water that has been heated freezes more quickly than water that has not.

　　Katz is waiting for someone to do experiments to test his theory, New Scientist said.

　　I hear you are very unhappy these days because your parents can’t afford to buy you some brand-name shoes and garments you like very much. And I write you this letter to share with you what I think about this matter.

　　To begin with, beauty is just skin deep. Don’t you think it silly to pay so much attention to your appearance? 　　The journey of one’s Life is like a rugged mountain road. He starts from the bottom of the mountain just as everybody else does. And he begins to climb up. Maybe he’s not willing to do it but his natural instinct pushes him forward.

　　Several days after he was born, he opened his eyes, and he saw his mother, father and other people, such as doctors, nurses or his relatives, though he did not recognize anybody yet. Few years later, he went to a kindergarten, where he found many other kids. The he knew that not everybody would follow his minds or orders, not like what his family members did to him. He’s a bit disappointed, though he had fought for that before.

　　In the junior high school, he fell in love with one of his classmates on grade 3. He knew nothing about love, just felt like being with her. He cared about her, thought about her and missed her whenever school time was over. He didn’t dare to talk about his feelings to anybody, except his best friend. Times slipped away so fast that he graduated soon. He mailed to the girl once a week in senior high school, but soon they lost contact for some reasons. He did not fall in love with anyone else until he joined the university.

　　He was quite handsome and was good at sports. He’s one of the key players of the University Football Team. He was soon famous. Many girls were after him which made him feel cocky. Slowly, he forgot to care the girls who loved/liked him. He became a selfish and self-centered man.

　　He went abroad to seek for his venture after graduation. He was quite successful and he became more proud when he came back. A colleague of his was after him so he quickly fell in love with her. They lived together for 2 years and then got married. They had no problems with each other at all until two years later, when his wife was finally fed up with his pride, self-centered and selfish behaviors. She moved out to her parents’, and did not return to him until 3 months later. Both of them were hurt deeply. The negative consequence of that separation lasted for several years. They ended up divorced.

　　He sank himself into sadness and desperation and he began to suspect true love. He quit the job which many other admired and would try by all means to get his position. There’s nothing worth remembering in the city he used to live in for many years. He headed to another city and got ready to spend the rest of his life there.

　　Time always looks short when being recalled. When he was 78 and his wife had passed away for ages, he knew his time was almost up. He asked himself whom he was missing most. The answer was clear, not his wife, not his ex-wife, but the girl who used to keep him accompanied when he was in his desperation…
