　　Last week, I took part in an English speech contest which was held by our teachers. There were twelve students in the final contest. I was one of them.

　　Fifteen minutes before my turn, I picked my topic and prepared for it. I wrote down the outlines and organized what I was going to say. However, when I stood in front of all judges and students, I was extremely nervous. My mind was totally empty.

　　Then I took a deep breath to relax myself and started my speech. The result was not as good as I expected, but I preferred to regard it as a challenge to myself, whose process was the most important for me. I can learn a lot from this contest. I am sure I will be better next time.

　　近些日子，我报名参加了大同市英语翻译比赛。由于复习时间较短，而题的数量多、难度大，所以，要想获得优秀的成绩，只得“勤学苦练”了。这不，今天就要考试了，经过前几天“不分昼夜”的“埋头苦学”，我已准备充分了。俗话说：“临阵磨枪，不快也光。”有了这句话，也让我信心百倍。

　　今天早晨，我和妈妈早早地赶到现场，坐在考场外等候比赛的开始。翻译共分两个环节：口译40分，笔译60分。我们又复习了一会儿，比赛就开始了。首先进行的是笔译，我领到了答题卡和卷子之后，先粗略地浏览了一下卷子，“哇”这么简单的题?不会吧!这种题对我来说简直是张飞吃豆芽——小菜一碟!我有些沾沾自喜，可警觉心却告诫我，千万不可粗心大意呀。我立马醒悟了过来，可万万不可轻敌呀!于是，我开始小心翼翼地跨越这片充满陷阱和“拦路虎”的森林。不一会儿，“堡垒”都被我攻克了，我又一丝不苟地检查了两遍“死亡沼泽”，终于坚定地把卷子交给了老师。我抹了一把汗，就出去等待下一环节了。

　　口译很快就开始了，可是等了一个多小时才终于轮到了我们这一组，我们五人进场后，便都纷纷对序入座，当前两位选手考完后，便轮我上场了。我感到非常紧张，仿佛心脏经过了胃、肠、肝和肺，转了整整一圈又回到了原来的位置上。我让自己努力保持镇定，但腿还在抖个不停，回答得有些结结巴巴，甚至把七点钟说成八点钟，把那个说成了这个。我心想：这下可糟了，一定取不了好成绩了。那样的话我付出的辛苦不就付之东流了吗?想到这儿，我的手心不禁泌出了汗。“现在开始评分!”，我被一个声音从思绪中拉了出来，这时我的心差点儿从嘴里掉出来。可仔细一看，结果令我大吃一惊。两个40分剩下的'是39.5、39、38.5，去掉一个最高分和一个最低分，最后得分39.5分。那时我简直惊呆了，直到老师和同学们向我道贺时，我才回过神，爆发出兴奋的欢呼。

　　虽然我这次取得了小小的成绩，但我一定要在今后学习英语的过程中再接再厉，一定要多听、多看、多说、多写，让英语成为我不可缺少的伙伴，争取更好的成绩。
