　　Last week, I took part in an English speech contest which was held by our teachers. There were twelve students in the final contest. I was one of them. Fifteen minutes before my turn, I picked my topic and prepared for it. I wrote down the outlines and organized what I was going to say. However, when I stood in front of all judges and students, I was extremely nervous. My mind was totally empty. Then I took a deep breath to relax myself and started my speech. The result was not as good as I expected, but I preferred to regard it as a challenge to myself, whose process was the most important for me. I can learn a lot from this contest. 　　Well, it's quite a question argued by people all the time. I think a person's personality has little relation to his family economic level. It's commonly said that a child in rich family will has more chances and better choice for his study. However, if the kid himself isn't aware of this, that is all in vain. It's not unusual that many children from rich family are quite rude and conceited although they are always receive the best education. Then, how about the poor family's children? There is another saying that adversity cultivates heroes. To be honest, I disagree with it too. Poor children should learn harder and catch every chance to strengthen themselves.

　　However, the reality is often not like that. Subjectively speaking, poor children are easy to feel inferior and thus can't study well. Even if they study well, they hardly do well in practicing ability. Objectively speaking, poor children can hardly receive good and plentiful education because of the economic limit. That will cause deficiency in some literal or artistic talent such as music or dance. Therefore, I think children's personality have little relation to their family situation.

　　前两天，学校高年级举行了英语演讲比赛，我作为班上的代表之一，前去观摩。

　　这次比赛无论是主持还是演讲，都是全英文的。东看看，西看看，竟来了不少我认识的人。学校的几位老师来做评委，还有一位外教呢！

　　比赛开始。首先，是两位主持人一番简短的介绍，然后选手开始挨个儿上台。每个人都有一份课件，上面是演讲内容，选手要流畅地背出稿子，才能得高分。他们一口流利的英语，听得我云里雾里。我不由得感叹道，这就是差距啊！不过根据课件上的英文，我还是认出了一些单词。

　　选手的情况也不同：有的一口英语说得头头是道，听得人一愣一愣的；有的上了台过于紧张，忘了词，又下来整理整理思绪再上台；也有的背得不错，却出了一点小插曲的……可谓是千姿百态。

　　选手们讲的.内容各不相同：有的流畅地讲了那些经典的故事；有的介绍了自己喜欢的动物或东西；还有的讲了自己从一句话或者一件事中感悟的道理……内容各不相同。

　　通过这次比赛，我深切地体会到了：人外有人，天外有天。我要更加努力地学习英语哟！

　　Since I was small, I like to play basketball, because I was effected by my father, he likes to watch basketball game so much, I will watch the basketball game with him. So when I went to school, I joined the basketball team in my class, we made up of a basketball team.

　　Last week, we had our first match. I was asked to play in the first time, I felt so nervous, I am so afraid that I could not cooperate with my team well. When the match started, I watched the basketball and moved as the ball flied, I forgot my job, I was asked to cover the team leader.

　　I recognized my mistake, I changed my move, at last, I covered our captain successfully, our team won the game. I learned so much from this match, team work comes first.

　　从我小时候起，我就喜欢打篮球，因为我收到了爸爸的影响，他很喜欢看篮球比赛，我会和他一起看比赛。所以当我上学的.时候，我加入了班里的篮球队，我们组成了一只队伍。

　　上周，我们进行了第一次的比赛。这是我第一次叫去比赛，我感到很紧张，我怕我不能和队友好好合作。当比赛开始的时候，我看着篮球，随着篮球移动，我忘记了自己的职责，我应该要掩护队长的。

　　我认识到了我的错误，我改变了移动，最后，我成功地掩护了队长，我们队赢得了比赛。我从这场比赛学到了很多，团队合作是最重要的。
