　　Then a strange blight crept over the area and everything began to change . Some evil spell had settled on the community : mysterious maladies swept the flocks of chickens ; the cattle and sheep sickened and died . Everywhere was a shadow of death. The farmers spoke of much illness among their families. In the town the doctors had become more and more puzzled by new kinds of sickness appearing among their patients . There had been several sudden and unexplained deaths not only among adults but even among children ， who would be stricken suddenly while at play and die within a few hours.

　　There was a strange stillness. The birds， for example ---where had they gone ?Many people spoke of them， puzzled and disturbed. The feeding stations in the backyards were deserted. The few birds seen anywhere were moribund .They trembled violently and could not fly. It was a spring without voices . On the mornings that had once throbbed with the dawn chorus of robins ， doves ， jays ， wrens ，and scores of other bird voices there was now no sound ; only silence lay over the fields and woods and marsh.

　　On the farms the hens brooded ， but no chicks hatched .The farmers complained that they were unable to raise any pigs --the litters were small and the young survived only a few days .The apple trees were coming into bloom but no bees droned among the blossoms， so there was no pollination and there would be no fruit. The roadsides ， once so attractive， were now lined with browned and withered vegetation as though swept by fire . There ， too， were silent ， deserted by all living things .Even the streams were now lifeless. Anglers no longer visited them ， for all the fish had died. In the gutters under the eaves and between the shingles of the roofs ， a white granular powder still showed a few patches ： some weeks before it had fallen like snow upon the roofs and the lawns， the fields and sreams.

It grows well exposing to the weather. There is nothing objects can protect it. For example, last night, there was a strong thunderstorm. Now it is tired but still never gives up from growing up. I think I have to learn its spirit. I need to be strong in my life.

　　我家门前有一棵小草。因为我家门前的地面是水泥地，所以这唯一的`一颗小草就变得很显眼。它很坚强。风吹日晒，没有任何的保护物，它仍然能长得好好的。例如，昨天晚上，有一场很大的雷阵雨。现在它现在很累，但是仍然没有放弃生命。我觉得我应该要学习它的精神。我要在生活中学坚强。

　　When I go to school, I will have a test once a month, I am so afraid to tell my mother the school report, if I do well, my mother is happy, but if I am not doing well, I let my mother down. The school report is so horrible, I think the parents should treat it right, whether the child do well, they should encourage the kids.

　　当我上学的时候，我每个月都会有一次考试，我很害怕告诉妈妈考试的成绩单，如果我做好了，我妈妈很高兴，但是如果我没有做的很好，我让妈妈失望了。成绩单很恐怖，我觉得家长应该正确对待成绩单，无论孩子是否考好，他们都应该鼓励孩子。

　　春天来了，天气变暖了，树上长出了嫩芽，人们穿的衣服也越来越薄了。

　　Spring is coming, the weather is getting warmer, buds are growing on the trees, and people's clothes are getting thinner and thinner.

　　走出家门，可以看见，树上抽出了嫩芽，柳树上也抽出了新的.柳条，小草也变成了浅绿色。偶尔能看见几朵小花，有黄的、绿的、红的，真是好看极了。有时候也能看见小鸟在树上唱歌或者在天空中自由自在的飞翔。

　　Out of the door, you can see that the tree out of the buds, willow out of the new wicker, grass has become light green. Occasionally I can see a few small flowers. They are yellow, green and red. They are really beautiful. Sometimes you can see birds singing in trees or flying freely in the sky.

　　啊！春天的变化可真大呀！
