雾都孤儿英文读后感

  雾都孤儿读后感英文【一】

Oliver Twist is written by Charles Dickens.

Charles Dickens is one of the greatest writers in the England. He was born in a poor family, but later he became famous and rich. The famous novel --A Tale of Two Cities is written by him, too.

This novel shows us the cruelty and crime of London. Oliver Twist, the hero, is a poor orphan. He lived in a life filled with taunts. Nobody loved him. With visions of his future, he decided to go to London. He thought a new life was coming, but he was wrong, a group of thieves were waiting for him.

The author created a group of bad men.

Fagin, an old man, with a horribly ugly face and red hair, was the head of those thieves. He tried to make Oliver be a criminal.

Bill Sikes was a cruel and evil man in the group. He had a bad temper.

Monks, Oliver’s brother, did bad things to hurt Oliver. He wanted to get the legacies left by his father alone. He paid Fagin to trap Oliver into a life of crime. In fact, they were all afraid of being put into prison and being hanged. They can’t live happily.

Nancy, a poor girl, loved a bad man. She had to help Bill Sikes perpetrate, because she loved him. She had to be loyal to the criminal group, because she loved him. Actually, she was kind. She helped Oliver at the risk of her life. If she hadn’t fell in love with Sikes, she would have a happy ending.

The author showed these ugly things to us, he described an ugly world. But there are more kind people in the novel.

Mr. Brownlow, an old friend of Oliver’s father, took good care of Oliver.

Mrs. Maylie, Harry Maylie’s mother, saved Oliver of his life.

Miss Rose is the aunt of Oliver, in fact.

They all protect Oliver from hurt.

Oliver was unlucky to meet so many evil people, but he was luckier to get help from so many kind people.

In the end of the novel, all the evil people were punished. Oliver got what he should get. Rose married Harry Maylie and they lived happily. All the kind people have a happy ending.

Righteousness can always beat evil. I think this is what the author wants to tell. Although there are many ugly things in the world, we must believe that righteousness can always beat evil.

We must store kindness even though we are in ugly situation. One is poor if he doesn’t have kindness. One is rich if he has kindness. So please store your kindness in your mind.

What’s more, the novel also tells us to be brave. Oliver was brave enough to overcome all the problems he had met. No matter how difficult the problem is, we can’t give up, we must try our best to solve it.

From Oliver Twist , I have learnt a lot .It’s really a good novel.

  雾都孤儿读后感英语【二】

OLIVER TWIST is one of Dickens’s classic stories, it is a realistical fiction written in 1938 and takes London as setting. It is taken from the past and made readable for children in the present. It narrates miserable suffering of Oliver and his lot. This book was published times without number, adapted to many kinds of arts, TV plays, films, dramas, etc. In 2005, the world famous director Roman Polanski screen it to the world.

  The Auther :

  Charles Dickens

was born in England in 1812. He was the second of eight sons in a poor

family. When he was only 12, Dickens’father could not pay his bills, then he was sent to prison. Dickens’ mother and brothers were forced to work hard at different jobs in order to pay off the debts. And he worked in a shoe polish factory, So it can be thought much of what he wrote is based on his personal experience. Charles Dickens knows firsthand about the misery and hunger of a poor life.

  The content :

Oliver Twist is an abused orphan with nothing to hope for in the capitalism society. And yet, despite all the bad things that happen to him, he does keep

on loving and trusting, eventually endearing himself to everyone he meets, as well as to the readers.

To begin with, in the orphanage, it is not strange of starving to death

for the little children just as Oliver. However, to Oliver’s brightness and endurence, god blesses him, too many things are come over by himself and his kind-hearted friends. Because Oliver can’t tolerant the maltreated life any more. The orphanage boss, the undertaker of coffins, never treat him as friendly as a boss to a employe. Soon later, a great choice is made by himself, escaping, indeed, it’s the best and the only way for him. Occasionally, he escaped to London, but a new bitter experience come.

Next, though he managed to escape to London, unfortunately, due to his

loving and trusting, he was taken in to a bandits’den. The chief of robbers trained him as a thief to help they by all manner and means. One time, he was taken on a street to help steal a man’s handkerchief, then he was arrested even he did not do anything. After the enchanting sight in spring time, he was helped by Mr. Brownlow. The chief Fagin did not give up the evil idea, he grasped Oliver back again, well-known to us, the dangers were one by one.

Finally, the most striking event was that there existed a secret about

the poor Oliver, it was complex that later he was always being in danger. His family which was original in London too, so London was not only strange but also familiar to him. In London, it’s the development of story, it saw the orphan how to cope with so many bad things and his family secret.

Fagin , Bill and Monks wanted to let Oliver steal and crime by any means. Fortunately, thanks to Mr. Brownlow, Miss Maylie and Miss Rose, the offenders’ tricks are broken at the end. It’s a war between justice and criminal. And we know Monks was Oliver’s elder brother, but half--brother. Boththeir father and mothers were dead. Monks attemptted to take possession of the legacy bequest of his father. Actually, the inheritance said all that money belongs to Oliver. That is to say, Monks tried to be a robber, to hurt his brother. The same to say, Oliver was not poor , but to be very wealthy. For me, I can’t imagine how happy I was. Occasionally, Oliver came to London, then knew his aunt Miss Rose and his father’s good friend Mr.Brownlow by chance. Be a little boy, a orphan, Oliver insist on believing, loving and smiling to life, brave and never give up. To some extent, novelist believe that good people, good luck. One could not be too careful in a new neighbourhood. Not all men are good. We see Nancy ha helped him as well, she was virtuous. Except for Oliver, we should learn to fight for ourselves in our lives! Because we meet troubles at every minute, changes are so common to us, there is no choice but to keep fighting and going.

Read through this novel, I realize that no matter what a society we

are in, good characters are existing. One good turn deserves another.
