　　第一、先要弄清楚，申请访问学者是否需要推荐信。

　　前文讲过，有一部分欧美国家的导师在审核申请者资料时候，需要一份推荐信，但是有一部分学校导师是不需要的，所以申请者先要弄清楚，你所申请的学校、导师到底需不需要推荐信。

　　第二、申请国外访问学者，很多老师都愿意帮你写

　　在访问学者网接触的一些申请者中，发现很多导师都需要推荐信，而很多人却要向不同的学校发套词信，这样的话，就需要很多推荐信，对于不同申请学校，推荐信也就不同，这时候你要和你的老师进行商榷，希望他能在你需要推荐信的时候多写一些，一般情况下，他会帮助你的。

　　第三、申请信的质量，是起作用的关键

　　因为美国一些导师每年与不同的中国学生接触，已经了解到，中国学生的推荐信含金量太低，所以很多都不起作用，在同等条件下，如果一位中国学生和一位其他国家的学生同样拿着推荐信的话，外国导师很多时候会倾向与外国学生，就是一份有价值的推荐信起的作用，但也不是说中国就没有可以开出有价值推荐信的地方。

　　第四、推荐信是与外导的直接对话

　　很多人申请者，在被要求推荐信之后，也会努力去办，但是在请求国内导师写好推荐信后会自己进行修改，这样做是不对的，因为大多数情况下，推荐信是不经过申请者而直接到达国外导师那里，这样一份推荐信才见可信度。
