　　下面，就让我来给大家介绍一下这本书的作者吧！他是一个加拿大人，中文名叫彭加汉，著名英语口语教育家、北京雅思学校副校长、中央电视台著名节目主持、加拿大国家广播电台中国专栏作家。

　　Honesty means speakingthe truth and being fair and upright in act. He who lies and cheats is dishonest.: Those who gain fortunes not by hard labour but by other means is dishonest.

　　Honesty is a good virtue. If you are honest all the time,you’ll be trusted and respected by others. A liar is always looked down upon and regarded as a black sheep by the people around. Once you lie, people will never believe you even if you speak the truth.

　　However, in the tide of commodity economy today, it seems that more and more the people believe in money at the sacrifice of honesty. To them, among such things as health, beauty, m6ney, intelligence, honesty, reputation and talent, honesty is the only thing that can be east away. They don’t understand or pretend not to understand that honesty is the biggest fortune humans own, and that it is the prerequisite for doing everything well. I think these people areto be pitied.

　　In short, honesty is gold. Honest, your reputation will become great;dishonest, your name will be spoiled and your personality degraded. 　　The advantage is that more students who want to continue their study after high school can fulfill their wish much easier than before. To some extent, this will improve the quality of young generation and benefiy the society when they turn up to be the masters.

　　The disadvantages is obvious that double or triple of graduates will flush the job market which directly decrease the salary scale due to the demand and supply theory. The increase number of student also affect the quality of teaching and result in downgrade of graduate academic ability.

　　Many colleges and universities have expanded their enrollment since 1998. The reasons for the expansion are as follows. Firstly, they want to keep up with the need of the job market to produce more qualified people to take up the jobs. Secondly, the expansion has entitled many high school graduates to the right of receiving higher education. Last but not least, it can raise the intellectual standards of our nation.

In the long run, hunting for a job will be a tough thing for the graduates and that will inevitably exert much pressure on the prospects of employment.

　　There is no same opinion among people as to the view of wealth. Some people may think that wealth is the most important and powerful thing in life, while some other people believe that there are many things that cannot be bought with wealth.

　　As far as I am concerned, I agree with the latter opinion. There’s an old proverb, “Money can cure hunger, but it can’t cure happiness” which simply means wealth can buy us some material things but cannot make us happy and free from sadness or worries. In fact, happiness, true love, friendship, time, health and so on are the most valuable things in the world and can never ever be bought with money. Those who just try their best to make money can’t realize the true meaning of life and will be the slaves for money. They can’t enjoy happiness, for they have lost everything, time relatives, love except money. Then, what can money do? No one will share the happy moment with them.

　　So, I think, money is not at all powerful while happiness is more important. If we always have happiness, we’ll never give up the belief to life.
