Green-colored sunshine shining though soft leaves, all the green days in the growth rings' telling legend to the future and the past. These green hopes in the Olympic rings are just like warm hugs and brilliant haloes under the blue sky of Beijing. As the 29th Olympic Game which is held in Beijing is coming up soon, every citizen in our city is a messenger of green Olympic, we love our city and care more and more about our environment. In those lovely smiling face, I'm touched deeply for all the efforts we make. I can see the grassland is greener; the blue sky is beautiful and clean, and every little tree is growing happily in warm and gentle breeze. This is my hometown, this is beautiful Beijing, and there place the Green Olympic hopes on.
Thinking about a few years ago, when I saw the taxonomic dustbin in our community for the first time, the Green Olympic made no difference in my mind. I just regarded it as an interesting way to sort garbage. But when a few days later I raised my hands high up and was eager to be a member of "the Communist Youth League's EPD group", I told myself firmly, "It's a great way to make contribution to the 2008's Beijing." Maybe this is why I have that much passion on this great action. In the following months, we have activities such as picking up all the plastic things which are surrounded our school together with our teacher. We were all very excited about this meaningful thing. We also set up special dustbins for used batteries, so that we can both pollute less and recycle more. When seeing all the plastics and the batteries were carried on the truck which was going to the recycle factory to handle these things, we were all very happy about it. Everyone forgot all the hardness. To let the dream of" Green Beijing" come true, all of us should give a hand. "I've do something great for you Beijing," What a great sentence!
And at the same time, the actions of protecting the environment are going on, too. My father changed all the taps in my family into saving-water ones, and all the water we use are recycled for at least 2 or 3 times. I always can hear this ad on CRI, it says, "5 million children died each year, just for the drinking water." So, help us to make the world safer. Although my actions are rather small, but I think with all of you guys help, there will be a strong power.
The color green gives the Olympic Game a deeper meaning, green is in flowers, grasslands and in trees; Green is in the sky, in the earth and in the sunshine. But to my opinion, green's also in our minds, in our smiles and in the great love.
Once in an activity which was to plant trees for the community, every planter got a card to hang out on the tree with writing a few meaningful words. Do you know I have written what? That is:

I am the part of the Green Olympics Ladies and gentlemen: good morning! Today, my speech is I am the part of the Green Olympics.
Green Olympics is one of the Three Themes of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
Therefore the Beijing government had made a great effort in order to protect the environment, build more Green project, keep the ecological balance, push the recycling economy, and protect the water resource.
But if only the government take the action to realize the Green Olympics in 2008, its not enough.
As a Beijing high school student, we should play an active role in the actions aimed at the realization of Green Olympics.
So we should start it from ourselves, our family, our friends and other people around us.
In 2001, in the Moscow world trade center, when the former chairman of the International Olympic Committee, Samaranch had said: Beijing, China! As a Beijing citizen, as a Chinese, I had a great joy for my city, for my home country from the bottom of my heart! But after the excitement that Beijing had been succeed in the race to host the Olympic Game in 2008.
I started to worry about the dusty air, the sandstorm, the polluted rivers and lakes; the streets without any green and whether we could successfully host the Olympic Games in 2008.
Four years later, today, we can see 229 day blue sky in one year, we can hardly catch a glimpse of the sandstorm, groups of wild duck comes back to Shishahai Lake in the spring, and all the streets are dressed in green.
All these make me deeply believe that Beijing will surely succeed in 2008! And all these achievements are not only the result that made by the Beijing government, but also by the 14 millions Beijing citizens.
As one of the 14 millions normal citizens, I am also adding my contribution to our Green Olympic! I used to have a habit, which is to take two longtime showers every day.
It was a big waste of water.
One day, I saw a piece of news in Beijing Daily that about the lack of the Beijing water resource.
Its said every year Beijing use up about 3.7 billions cubic meter of water.
But Miyun reservoir only contains 0.77 billions cubic meter of water, and Guanting reservoir only contains 0.19 billion cubic meter of water.
This shows we are really short of water now! After reading this news, I start to change my habit, and only take one quick shower each day.
I have calculated that if everyone economizes one cubic meter of water during they are taking the shower in a month; the Beijing citizens will economize 14 million cubic meter of water in only one month! In 2004, as the Beijing Irrigation Apartment reported that since 2001 Beijing has succeeded in the application of hosting the Olympic game in 2008.
Beijing government had started 26 programs in order to economize the water resource.
After 3 years doing this, these programs have saved 0.437 billions cubic meter of water.
Its as big as a four-sized Huairou reservoir! And now, in my daily life, in my family, we always think about protecting the environment and saving the resource whenever we doing what.
The batteries, the aged newspapers, the empty glass bottles and all the recyclable garbage, we will CLasSify them then put them in different trash cans; we make the most use of the nature light and shut off the electrical light conveniently; and when we shopping, we will bring a nylon bag with us instead of plastic bags; during the feast, I do not send any card in order to protect the forest resource; after washing the clothes, we wont dump the used water but use it to flash the toilet… All in all, we should start from every little thing around us to truly realize the Green Olympic.

绿色奥运是北京2008年奥运会的三大理念之一。为此北京市政府无论是在环境的治理、绿化的建设、生态的保护、循环经济和水资源的保护与利用，都做了大量的工作。但实现绿色奥运仅仅靠政府行为是远远不够的，作为北京的中学生更应该积极的投身到绿色奥运的建设与宣传当中去。从我做起，从我的家庭做起，从我身边的朋友、同学做起。
2001年，当前国际奥委会主席萨马兰奇在莫斯科高声宣读：Beijing， China的时候，作为一个北京人，一个中国人，我发自心底的为我们的祖国，我们的首都感到高兴。但在高兴之余，那灰蒙蒙的天空，那漫天的沙尘暴，那污绿的护城河，那见不到一丝绿色的街道，又使我深为北京能否在2008年成功办好奥运而感到担心。
四年之后的今日，一年之中有了229天湛蓝的天空，那滚滚的黄尘也早已不见，那一群群久违的野鸭也在春天飞回了北京的什刹海，街道也被绿色装点的生机勃勃。这一切不知不觉的变化都在回答着我，北京一定能办好2008年的奥运！而所有这些变化不仅仅是北京市政府的努力，更是在政府领导下的无数北京市民们努力的结果。作为这一千多万普通北京市民的一员，我也在为我们的绿色奥运贡献出自己的一份力量。
以前我曾有个习惯，每天早晚冲澡两次，而且冲洗时间特别长，很浪费水。一天，我在北京日报上看到了一则关于北京水资源短缺的文章，说北京市每年用水量大概是37亿立方米，而密云水库的蓄水量仅有7.7亿立方米，官厅水库的蓄水量仅有1.9亿立方米，水资源的供需矛盾十分尖锐。看到这则报道后，我开始改变我的习惯，每天只洗一次澡，尽量在很短的时间内洗完。我算了一笔帐，每人每月洗澡节约一吨水，北京市1400万人口将节约1400万吨水。据北京市水利局2003年统计数字表明，从2001年申办奥运成功后，开始实施市政府制定的26项节水措施，3年来节水达到4.37亿立方米，相当于4个怀柔水库。现在，在我的`生活中，在我的家庭里，环保、节约的思想和行为时常都有体现。电池、报纸、玻璃瓶、油壶等可回收物，我们是分别处理、存放；购物、买菜的口袋使用尼龙口袋，基本不使用塑料袋；洗衣的水重复使用于冲洗马桶……而实现绿色奥运也正是应该从身边的这些小事做起。
我们清楚的记得在2004年的雅典奥运会上，当刘翔登上领奖台时，他头上戴了一个由橄榄枝编成的头环。这绿色的橄榄枝不正是代表着绿色奥运吗？橄榄枝象征着和平，而奥运正是传递和平的载体，我们不能简单的理解没有战争就是和平。人与自然和谐相处也是和平最本质的含义。节约资源、保护环境这种追求人与自然和谐相处的具体行为正是奥林匹克精神的具体体现。所以我们说：和平是奥运的灵魂，奥运是和平的载体，绿色奥运是我们从更高的境界在追求和平。当伟大的精神被平凡广泛的具体化以后，这种精神就被弘扬和光大了。
看来绿色奥运应该从点滴做起，从我做起，从我周边的人做起。弘扬奥林匹克精神，宣传绿色奥运理念，让2008北京奥运真正做到绿色奥运。这正是每一个爱好和平、追求和平人们的义不容辞的责任。也是我们北京中学生的一种思想境界和追求。演讲结束，谢谢各位！

Olympics of mankind,Celebration of green nature Good morning, everybody!Lets start with the very simple question: Do you know the tree coverage rate of Beijing? Well, the recent numerical value is 49.9%.
It sounds much, but is there simply one tree that was planted by you? If there is, lets say youre really great.
But if not believe me you are not alone cuz its rather difficult for us students to get involved in such activities.
Well, I think now we all realize that all that weve done for the green is just about claiming or declaring, painting or advertising.
However what Im fully convinced is that someday ten years ago you must have stepped onto the grassland in the early spring and Im sure that some of you (especially girls) must have unwittingly picked up dandelions by the roadside and gently blew their parachute like seeds into the fragrant breeze.
By the time our lives can be counted by decades, what have we done for our mother nature?Before you get lost in speculation, please follow me and try considering some other questions: put up your hands if you have watched the Olympic Games? (Of course you have or else you wouldnt be sitting here) nonetheless how many of you had the experience of sitting in front of the television waiting for the Games of the unable people? I think now we can draw the conclusion that we concern the Olympic games mostly for you found out that the linkage between the Olympic Games and the green environment is that we almost do nothing really helpful to either of them! What now I want to tell you is very realistic I wrote them from the core of my heart so please believe me they are my true summer when I had just finished the high school entrance examination, I came up with the idea of not using air conditioners in that coming summer.
Then I had an extraordinarily hard time controlling myself and had suffered from having more than one air conditioners in sight yet cannot make use of them.
Every time I caught sight of them I told myself that I was doing something quite valuable.
Finally autumn came and to my surprise I had made it! You know how excited I was? I really felt very proud of myself.
Sounds ridiculous right? However, will all of you here join me to do this next year, will you? I hope so.
Because I feel deeply upset every time when I see my parents waste a lot of water and I dont know why Im extremely concerned about the protection of environment and the reservation of natural resources since I was young.
My mother was against me on whether to mention her in my speech nevertheless I consider it very common among you and maybe your parents.
In the past I didnt dare to ask others to turn off the faucet while not using them because I was afraid of being described as stingy, am I? Stinginess is to resources what responsibility is to the society.
Its about time we aroused the social awareness of environment protection.
Doesnt the realization of our green dream and Olympic dream both start from that? Because all the beautiful words seem to be so pale and feeble compared with practical actions and I dont like to say sentences like start right from myself so lets change it to a more romantic one: the mission of turning the green within our heart and soul into the luxuriantly green scenery out of the window is bound to cross the boundaries between nations, continents and racial groups, from Olympia to the Great Wall and finally fall on our shoulders by the year favorite description of the Olympic games is the celebration of mankind.
But now I want to propose a small change, which is to be: Olympics of mankind, celebration of green nature.

去年夏天，我忽然决定不开空调， 无论多热都不能开，为了看不到的南极的臭氧层和就在心里的自然梦想。于是我开始遭受满眼都是空调却不能享受清凉的煎熬。舒适明明唾手可得，但我却告诉自己，我正在做的事情是非常有价值的。当秋天终于姗姗来迟的时候，我真的感到特别的自豪哎！听起来有些荒谬有些可笑，可是还是挺不容易的吧！我本想号召各位加入我疯狂的举动可是秋天来了天气凉了，我只有这个小小的心愿希望明年各位会这样做，会吗？我希望会，因为每当我看到宿舍的同学甚至家人用水浪费的时候，我都深深感到一种莫名其妙的沮丧，那是一种发自内心的难过.我想这是很普遍变得现象。或许就发生在你和你家人的身上。我曾经不敢告诉陌生人关掉不用的水龙头，因为害怕被说成小气多管闲事，是这样吗？那天晚上我独自走在空无一人得楼道，听到滴滴答答的水声，像是自然的哭泣。于是我战战兢兢地走进黑漆漆的水房，一个个地听取寻找漏水的管道，向开密码锁一样轻轻地转动水龙头直到找到关紧的那一点。我感到发自内心的兴奋，像完成一项重要的使命。我们的绿色之梦，奥林匹克之梦不就是这样开始的吗？这种对资源的小气应该成为整个社会的大气。因为所有的豪言壮语在实际行动面前都显得那么软弱那么苍白。就像从我做起的号召听起来平淡而无力一样。我们还是换一个更浪漫一些的说法吧：将心中的绿色变成窗外的葱茏这样美丽的使命，注定将在不远的2008跨越国与国，洲与洲，种族与种族的界限，由奥林匹亚来到中国长城，最终落在你我的肩上。所以从今日开始，我们就要努力。

What image does Beijingintend to create for itself once it has the opportunity to host the 2008 Olympics.
It is known to all that the Beijing Municipal Government has already set the theme for the future games: New Beijing, Great Olympics. For me, the 2008 Olympics will be a great green Olympics illuminated with two more special colors, yellow and red.
First, yellow is a meaningful color. The Yellow River is China’s Mother River and the descendants of the Yellow Emperor. This color has a special origin and great significance for the Chinese people. Beijing is the capital of New China and previously the capital for nine dynasties in Chinese history. So, yellow will naturally add splendor to the 2008 Games.
Secondly, the 2008 Olympics will be a red pageant.Red is another traditionally cherished color for the whole country. We adore red. On big occasions, we like to decorate our homes in red. It is the color of double happiness, representing joyous moments, auspiciousness, enthusiasm and prosperity. Red is one of the most suitable colors to describe the future of Beijing . Beijing , together with the whole country, is becoming more and more prosperous in the process of modernization. Should the 2008 Olympics be held in Beijing, the whole city will be a sea of red : the red torch,red flags, red flowers, and the radiant faces of millions of joyful people.
Above all, the 2008 Olympics will be a green Olympics. Adding a green ingredient is essential in creating an appealing image, as we can’t deny the fact that Beijing, at the moment, is not as green a city as what we like it to be. Striving for an environmentally appealing city has become a central task for all the citizens of Beijing. Big efforts have been made in pollution control, replanting and beautification of the city. According to a project entitled" The Green Olympic Action Plan", between 1998 and 2007, Beijing, we have invested 100 billion RMB in preserving and protecting the environment. Some 12.5 million trees and over 1 million acres of grass will be planted along the Fourth Ring Road. By then, the city’s green area will make up 40% of its total. The city will also dredge its reservoirs used as a water supply to Beijing residents, controlling industrial pollution and moving out the 200 factories presently located within the city proper.
Certainly, all of this is no easy task. But I am sure that all of us have confidence that we will realize these green goals. For now we have the full support and participation of the environmentally conscious citizens.
