The threat of impending financial disasterconcentrates political minds wonderfully. OnThursday a group of Congressional leaders heardHank Paulson, the Treasury secretary, and BenBernanke, the Federal Reserve chairman, paint a direeconomic scenario if they did not approve a moresweeping remedy for the financial crisis. Studentand car loans, not just mortgages, would all beharder to get. The economy would sink into asevere recession.

For this reason, ad hoc responses will still be critical, such last week’s federal guarantees formoney-market funds, Fed loans to banks to purchase asset-backed commercial paper and, on Sunday, approval of the remaining two big independent investment banks, MorganStanley and Goldman Sachs, to become Fed-regulated bank holding companies whoseinvestment bank units can now borrow from the Fed on the same terms as other banks.

It could be some time before the Treasury is able to purchase mortgages en masse, andlonger still before that starts to affect the broader financial system and economy. In themeantime, the crisis could claim other victims.

Lost time is never found again. This is something which I learned very clearly last semester. I spent so much time fooling around that my grades began to suffer. I finally realized that something had to be done. It was time for a change. Now I have a new plan for using my time wisely. I have set my alarm clock ahead half an hour. This will give me a head start on the day. I have also decided to keep a log of what I do and when I do it. Looking back on what I’ve done will give me some ideas on how to reorganize my time.

How’stheweatherin____?Whatdoyouwearin____?Whatdoyouliketodoin____?

It was the first week at school. It made me feel very happy because school life is much more interesting than holiday life. At school, I got up at 6 o’clock. It was very early. I think school rules can make me have a good habit. Then I brushed my teeth and washed my face. Later I went to have breakfast. There were many kinds of food in the school dining hall and some are delicious. At 7 o’clock, I had to stand next to the school door because it was my duty. In my opinion, it was a bit boring. After that, I went to the classroom to have classes. My favorite subjects are math and Chinese. Because learning math can make me smart. Chinese can help us open our mind and make us more knowledgable. After school, I went to take a shower and washed my clothes. Washing clothes was a little hard for me. However, I thought it was a kind of exercise. At night, I went to bed at 9 o’clock. I had sweet dreams these days. But my weekend life was boring because I had too much homework to do and too many books to read. I hope I can have a more wonderful week next week!

Miss Green was going to give a lecture on Monday afternoon. Yet on Sunday night she was told that she had to go to an important meeting the next day at exactly the same time. “No one can be in two places at once. What shall I do?”she thought. But soon, she had an idea.

At five to three on Monday afternoon Miss Green went along to the lecture room. There were about twenty students waiting there for her.“I‘m sorry,”she told them, “I won‘t be able to give my lecture today.”The students looked surprised. Miss Green explained that she had an important meeting. “However,”she went on, “although I can‘t be with you myself, my voice can!”Then she put a small tape recorder on the desk. “You see, I‘ve recorded my lecture and you can listen to it without me.”Thinking that she had settled the matter, Miss Green turned on the recorder and left. The meeting finished a little early. Miss Green decided to go back to her students. She stood for a moment outside the lecture room, listening to her own voice. Then very quietly, she opened the door. To her surprise, the room was empty. As she looked around, she saw a number of recorders----all“listening”to her lecture.

“Well,”she thought,“if I can be in two places at the same time, why can‘t they?”

When the hot word of the year——“innovation”arouses wide concern from the public, can we still stand there, hesitating for what occurs? As we can see from the depiction, four youngsters, seemingly having a dinner, are in fact concentrated on their smart phones.Actually, it is a morning call to send us a message that the topic concerning“high-tech burden”has been in the spotlight that attracts attention from every corner of the world.

But my own worry today is less that of the overwhelming problem ofelectronic trashes than it is of the slightly more luxurious agony of the decline in communication even of well-educated youths. We scarcely write a handwritten letter other than an E-mail, which displays fewer touching emotions than the , for example. Several factors could weigh heavily for this degeneration, yet, suspended at the top of the list are the following two aspects. To begin with,as the economic boom brings not only the high standard of modernization but the fast rhythm of living as well, many citizens could hardly keep cool when facing the relentless competition.Disastrously, many choose to abandon themselves to so-called high-tech pleasure so that they can escape from reality for a while. Furthermore, externally, our society is witnessing an overwhelming number of innovative goods, ranging from Iphone5s to all-powerful TV remotes, which exaggerate this kind of nonsense to produce the over-worship toward “High-tech”. A recent survey reveals that one in three college students in China thinks he is willing to spend RMB5880 buying an Iphone rather than study materials.

Fortunately, that is not the Day of Judgment. It is, undoubtedly, the very time that we should take some available methods to end these inappropriate behaviors, including laying down the effective regulations to modulate the orientation of scientific advancement, shaping a moderate science outlook and guaranteeing more rational lifestyles to the high-tech.
